The Big Rivalry!!!

Hey WoodyWatchers! Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! I only have a minute because the big game is coming on! That's right, our Kentucky Wildcats are getting ready to take on the Louisville Cardinals! Chloe and I just love sports! It is no secret who we are cheering for!!!

We wanted to take a minute to catch you up on our week! The first part of our week started in Caldwell County. We always love our time in Western KY. When we walked in the door of Caldwell County Primary, we saw the neatest bulletin board! It was dedicated to our TAILS! In addition to the bulletin board, we saw so many great friends!

Yesterday, we spent the day and evening at Glasscock Elementary in Marion. We met so many new faces. The last photo is one of Chloe and her new boyfriend!!! I have been teasing Chloe, but Mommy made me stop. Anyway, it is a great photo.

Next week, the four of us will be in Washington D.C. working on our next serial story for the newspapers. We can't wait to tell you all about it. I am already rehearsing what I am going to say if I run into President Bush! Mommy says I probably won't see him, but it doesn't hurt to dream!

Okay, Dad says it is time for tip-off! Have a great day! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

GO CATS!

Eastern Kentucky TAILS

Kentucky Greetings, WoodyWatchers! Mom, Dad, Chloe and I are at our doghouse in Shepherdsville catching up on emails, cat naps, and laundry! Last week was so busy for us! We left home on Monday evening for five days in the Eastern part of our state!

We began our week at South Elementary in Corbin. When most people think of Corbin, they think of Colonel Sanders. Everyone knows he has delicious, paw-licking good chicken. We learned there was more to Corbin than just Colonel Sanders. They have great students, teachers, and principals in Corbin! Ms. Lisa Hill invited us to South and we had a great day! In fact, the first two photos are from South. The very first photo is of Chloe and me with the principal, Mr. Jones. He was a nice man. He didn't even make me stay after school for detention when I had the accident in the library. Whoops! The second photo is of Kevin and his wiener dog, Twix! Chloe and I wanted to run around the gym with Twix, but we didn't have time. That would have been fun!

We left Corbin and spent Wednesday in London (Kentucky, NOT England)! The folks at Colony were so friendly to the four of us. Just so you know, I minded my manners and did NOT have an accident that day!

As the week went on, the weather got colder. In fact, there was even snow on the ground. Chloe and I wanted to build a snowman, but Dad said there wasn't enough. Oh well, it was pretty to see!

Thursday we surprised our friends at Horse Creek in Manchester, before going to bed early and getting up even earlier Friday for an interview on WYMT. After a book signing in Pikeville on Friday (third photo) and one at Cumberland Falls on Saturday, we headed back to Shepherdsville. We were happy to see our brothers and sisters back at home, but already miss the new friends we made last week!

I better say goodnight. Chloe is already crawling in the bed, choosing a favorite bedtime story. I am going to try to talk Mom into ONE more bedtime snack. It will be hours before breakfast, and I don't think my tummy can wait that long.

Goodnight, sweet dreams, and Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

TAILS from Owensboro

Good Morning, WoodyWatchers! It is early Monday morning. Mom and I are up and at it, while Dad and Chloe are still sleeping in the bed. It is not even 6:00 yet, so I thought I would be a good brother and let Chloe sleep a little longer. Poor Chloe was sick with a tummy virus for two days last week. She is back to her normal self now, and we are happy about that. It is no fun to see your sister sick!

Even though Chloe was a bit under the weather, we still had a terrific time in Owensboro on Friday and Saturday. Friday morning found us in Miss Evans' class. They had been following our TAILS from the paper. When I asked what their favorite part was, they all loved the part where we sang, "The puppy on the bus goes Bow, Wow, Wow!" That is one of my favorites too!

After lunch, we visited the students in Mrs. Williams' class. They were so friendly and fun. One student could talk just like Scooby Doo. I thought Scooby was in the room! Rut Row! They had learned to sing "My Old Kentucky Home." It was truly the most beautiful version I had ever heard, and believe me, I have heard that song plenty of times!

Friday was a day we will definitely not forget! We told the kids in both classes to keep their eyes open. You never know when we will pop in again!

Saturday was spent at the mall. I think that is what made Chloe feel better. We all know how girls just LOVE the mall! We signed books at Kentucky's Best. We saw so many of our friends from all over the state - places like Hardinsburg, Sedalia, Covington, Bowling Green, just to name a few! It was exciting!

We will be packing our Scooby backpack again today to leave for the rest of the week. I will be sure to write when we get back home to tell you all about our TAILS and travels!

Be sure to bundle up today. It is freezing! Speaking of, I think it is time I drag Chloe out of that warm bed and make her go outside with me for our morning walk. I am sure Mom will make us put pn our sweaters and scarves!

Have a great week! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Our New Wildcat Bed

Hi Friends! Once again I am sending my apologies for not writing sooner. The fall is such a busy time of year for us. School visits, book signings, UK football AND UK basketball certainly keeps our tails waggin'! Speaking of our favorite team, we wanted to show you our new bed. Dad said Chloe and I had worked hard all month, so for a treat, he bought us this brand new University of Kentucky Wildcat bed. Chloe and I love it. It makes bedtime much more fun! I think it is bringing the team good luck too!

Mr. Nathan, the man who keeps our doghouse looking so nice, has updated the photo page. If you haven't seen it, go on in and sniff around. Also, there is a new Christmas jumble on the Fun and Games page.

I better say goodnight for now! We will be in Lexington on Thursday, then in Owensboro on Friday and Saturday. I am already asking Mom if we can eat some burgoo at one of our favorite BBQ restaurants in Owensboro! YUM!

Night, night! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

A Busy Week in Kentucky!

Kentucky Greetings, WoodyWatchers! Hope you are all having a super day! Chloe and I are enjoying a day off. Last week was packed with exciting travels, but we had to come home and wash our jammies!

Thursday was spent with the students at Cartmell Elementary in Carroll County. The students at Cartmell knew all about our travels! Remember in TAILS II when Chloe and I went to Berea? I told you how Chloe and I looked for wiener dog portraits, but didn't find any. Well, the students at Cartmell didn't let us down. They had painted wiener dog portraits for us - and they were beee-autiful! In that same article, I explained how Chloe could make a pretty necklace made from candy. If you look closely in the third photo, you will see that the students are wearing necklaces made from - you got it - candy! The necklaces were lovely- and were yummy too!

The day was perfect! There was one scary part though. Ms. Ray had a snake in her room. She showed it to Mom and me. It was the first time I had ever seen a snake up close and personal. It stuck its tongue out at me. It probably wasn't polite, but I stuck my tongue out at the snake too! Mom reminded me to mind my manners. I didn't want to end up in the doghouse - especially if the doghouse was in the same room as the snake!

On Friday, we were at Kathryn Winn. Kathryn Winn is also in Carroll County. It was fun to see all of our friends we met a few years ago! Chloe and I always love talking about our TAILS!

On Saturday, we were at the 25th Annual Kentucky Book Fair in Frankfort. We love the Book Fair. There were hundreds of authors signing lots of great books!

Sunday found us in Danville at Maddy's Books. The Advocate Messenger - Danville's newspaper - asked us to come to Maddy's to meet the folks who have been following our TAILS. We met all kinds of new friends. TAILS II isn't just for kids - adults love it too! Chloe took a break from signing to show off her new sweater and even take a cat nap!

It is almost bedtime. Now that we had a day off, I at least have clean Scooby Doo jammies! I am going to put them on and crawl into bed!

Goodnight! Sweet Dreams! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Catching my Dog Breath

Hey Faithful WoodyReaders! Whew! November is in full swing and Chloe and I are busy little pups! In fact, I only have a minute, but I wanted to take a minute to catch my dog breath and say "Arff!" Mom and Dad are loading our things to head out to Carroll County. We will be at Cartmell on Thursday, Kathryn Winn on Friday, The Kentucky Book Fair on Saturday, then Maddy's Books in Danville on Sunday! We are so excited!!!

Last week, we were several places, inluding Johnson Elementary. Here is a photo with Ms. McKown. She was so nice to Chloe and me. If we were in the 3rd grade, we would love to have a teacher like Ms. McKown!

I better go! I don't want to be late and end up in the doghouse! I will bark at you later!

Happy Hallowiener!!!

Hi WoodyWatchers! Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! It is so great to be at home for a few days. For the past several weeks, we have been leaving our doghouse on Monday and staying on the road until Saturday. We love traveling, but we needed a few days at home to rest. We were sure Dad needed a break from driving the bus too!

Last week, we spent a few days in Somerset with the students at Shopville and Eubank. We left Somerset to travel to Western Kentucky. We spent Thursday night with our friends in Todd County, before spending Friday at Crittenden County. That was our very first time in Crittenden County and boy was it fun! Everyone was so friendly to us. After school, we drove to Paducah to have dinner with my Granny and Cousins Caroline and Patrick. Guess what Granny cooked??? You got it - my favorite meal of chicken and dumplings! DOGLICIOUS!!! We spent Saturday at the West KY Book Expo in Sturgis before traveling back home. The picture is of some of our friends from the Book Expo. We had a great time on the road, but it was good to return for a few days.

Chloe and I are excited about handing out candy to the Trick-or-Treaters tonight. Everyone wants to know if Chloe and I are dressing up for Halloween. I still can't make up my mind for a costume, though Chloe has her heart set on being a BalleWiener (Get it??? A Ballerina???)! One thing for sure, Mom always reads us one of our favorite books at Halloween called "The Hallowiener." It is about a little wiener dog named Oscar. It is our favorite part of October 31st.

I better go. Mom has fixed chicken salad for lunch and I am starved. She said that Chloe and I could watch Charlie Brown's "The Great Pumpkin" while we eat. We love that Charlie Brown and Snoopy. After that, Dad says we have to take a nap so we will be rested for our visitors tonight.

I will be sure to start getting some photos on our site soon, so stay tuned. If you are going Trick-or-Treating, be safe. Stay with an adult, don't eat too much candy, and Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Hip, Hip Hooray for Horse Creek!

Good Monday, WoodyWatchers! Chloe and I have just finished a tasty breakfast of piping hot oatmeal. It was delicious! It had brown sugar and cinnamon - just the way Chloe and I like it! I thought I would write in my diary while my tummy settled!

Mom, Dad, Chloe and I had the greatest week last week! We spent four days with the fourth graders at Horse Creek Elementary. Horse Creek is in Clay County. Usually, we are just in a school for one day, so it was a treat to spend four whole days with the same teacher and group of students! We immediately fell in love with Mrs. Tracy and all the kids! While there, we learned so much about Clay County. For instance, did you know that Manchester is the county seat of Clay County? Did you know that Clay County was the 47th county formed in Kentucky? We learned those facts, along with so many others. I am sure if you want to learn more about Clay County, you could ask any one of the 33 fourth graders at Horse Creek!

Sure, we learned so many things together, but we also had a great deal of fun! Mom is always telling us that learning new things is fun and exciting. Last week at Horse Creek proved Mom's point.

So many of the fourth graders have been emailing me asking when we are coming back to Horse Creek. Chloe and I asked Mom and Dad. They said we would definitely pop in and surprise the students one day. So, keep your eyes open!

I better go. We have so much packing to do. We are getting ready to leave today to be gone until Saturday! If you are wondering where we are going, check out our TOUR page! Also, we will start posting pictures soon on the PHOTO page of our school visits! So much to do for two little wiener dogs!

Gotta run! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Our first time in Rockcastle County

Good Sunday! Chloe and I thought we would take time away from watching football to say "Arff!" It has been an exciting week. We have so much to tell you about that we don't know where to start. We spent the week traveling the great state of Kentucky and meeting so many new friends.

This past Thursday, we were in Rockcastle County for the very first time. It was so much fun to add a new county to our list! We were with the students of Roundstone Elementary. Roundstone was a great school with lots of neat kids. The librarian, Mrs. Rogers, has a wiener dog that looks like Chloe. If you look closely in the first picture, you will see Mrs. Rogers, her daughter, and her wiener dog in the picutre!

If school wasn't exciting enough, we were treated to a tour of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. Mom, Dad, Chloe and I had the opportunity to walk through the museum and learn more about some of our favorite Kentucky musicians like The Judds, Dottie Rambo, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Chloe's favorite, Loretta Lynn. Chloe got to have her pitcure made by Loretta Lynn's display. She was so excited! Mom and I had fun walking on the stage and pretending like we were singing. Everyone knows that Chloe is the one with the pretty singing voice, but I enjoyed belting out a tune myself!

There were so many other wonderful things that happened this week, but I will have to tell you about them next time. It is 5:00, and you know what that means! That's right - dinner time. I wonder what Mommy is cooking up in the kitchen??? Chloe and I better go find out! I will write again tomorrow! Have a great supper! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Columbus Day

Good Monday, WoodyWatchers! Hope everyone had a terrific weekend! Chloe and I just asked Mommy if we could walk to the mailbox with her. She said we would go for a walk, but there wouldn't be any mail today since it is Columbus Day. I didn't know that. Today is the day we celebrate Christopher Columbus coming to the New World! I bet Mr. Columbus liked traveling as much as the four of us do!

Speaking of traveling, Mommy has the washing machine and the dryer going right now. Over the next 19 days, we will be working 13 of those away from home. Because of that, Mommy is getting all our laundry ready. We love it when Mom gets the clothes out of the dryer. They are so warm and snuggly. Chloe and I can't help ourselves. We always crawl right in the middle and enjoy the warmth! Daddy is running a few errands before we pack our things. Tomorrow we will be in Lexington at Cardinal Valley Elementary School. We we post some photos, so stay tuned!

I better go. Mom just asked Chloe and me to find our sweaters. She said we will need them over the next few days. It is going to be cold! That's right - these little hot dogs will be chilly dogs this week!

Have a great day! Happy Columbus Day from Chloe and me. Enjoy the sunshine! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

A Marvelous Day in Menifee County

Hey Gang! Hope your Monday was as terrific as ours! Chloe and I just finished a tasty dinner of baked chicken and I thought I would take a few minutes to write in my diary! As usual, our schedule has been doggone crazy - but a good crazy!

Last Tuesday, the four of us spent the day at Menifee County Elementary School in Frenchburg, KY. It was a super day. We had been to Menifee County Elementary several years ago, so it was exciting to return and see so many of our friends, as well as meet new faces. When we walked in the school, Chloe and I couldn't believe our eyes. All of the doors in the school were about us! They had a door decorating contest! Boy, it was so fun to walk around the school and see all the doors. We will definitely put photos up on the photo page, but I did show you a few of the doors in the photos here. Aren't they cool??? We knew you would love them too!

After our day in Menifee County, it was back to Louisville for a Librarian's Conference. Chloe and I loved seeing so many librarians here in the state. We received lots of hugs and kisses on Thursday and Friday!

Tomorrow we will be in Meade County. We feel like Meade County is becoming our second home. We have been there quite a bit lately! We can't wait to return! I will be sure to take some photos and show them to you.

I better say goodnight! It is getting late and bedtime is fast approaching. I hear Mommy running the bath water and I know what that means! I better go get my rubber duckie. Talk to you in a day or two. In the meantime, don't forget to Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

A PAWS-atively Perfect Day at Parkway

Greetings! Hope everyone is having a great Friday. Once again, it is raining kitty cats and wiener dogs! We have been inside all day long, catching up on reading, a few favorite shows like Lassie, and even a couple of cat naps!

Yesterday was a perfect day! We were with the students at Parkway! Parkway is in Hardin County and is the school our Mommy taught at before she started writing books about me. It was so exciting to go back to the school and see so many of her friends. It was even more fun to see some of the students she taught! Everyone was so friendly and the students were so well behaved!

Here are a few photos. We will put more on our Photo page soon! I better run for now. There is a small break in the rain and Chloe and I have to take the opportunity to run outside while it is dry and well, you know...

A Meeting, The Meade County Messenger, and More

Good Morning, WoodyWatchers! It is EARLY!!! In fact, most of you are still in the bed. Mom, Dad, Chloe, and I are all up getting ready to go to Parkway Elementary today. We are so excited that we could hardly sleep! Since I was awake, I thought I would write in my dairy. It has been a while since I have had the time to sit down and catch you up on all the neat things going on.

Where do I begin to bark? Let's see, TAILS from the Bluegrass II is in full swing. It started last week. It has been so much fun to get all your emails, so keep 'em coming! This past Tuesday night, the four of us were in Brandenburg with The Meade County Messenger. Lots of folks - and even one wiener dog - came out to meet Chloe and me, as well as to have their scrapbooks signed. It was so much fun! The first picture you see is of kids standing in line to have their scrapbooks signed. Chloe and I had tired paws Tuesday evening!

As you can imagine, most of our days are being spent in schools. The second photo is of some of our new friends at Booker T. Washington in Lexington. We were there last week.

The last picture is of James Asher - our illustrator. He is the man in the picture holding Chloe. The nice lady, Ms. Johnson, is with Kentucky Press Association, and the man standing is Mr. Cliff. Ms. Johnson and Mr. Cliff are two people who make it possible for you to read TAILS every week. We thought you might enjoy the photo.

Well, I better go. Like I said, it is so early, but if my nose is correct the bacon is almost ready. Mommy is getting our plates from the cupboard which means breakfast is ready! YUMMY! I will post lots of pictures from Parkway, so stay tuned.

Have a great day. If you haven't had breakfast, be sure to eat. Oh, and remember to Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Happy September!

Hey WoodyWatchers! Hope all my friends are in the beginning of a super September! We love the fall. Chloe and I love playing in the leaves, feeling the cooler weather, and watching football! Our favorite part of fall is definitely being back in school! We love school!

A few weeks ago we were at Millcreek Elementary in Lexington! We made all kinds of new friends! We met one pretty young lady named Carly. She has kept in touch with us on email. Today, Mommy went to the post office and came home with a surprise. Chloe and I couldn't wait to tear into the envelope. We were so happy to see it was from our friend Carly. She had colored us five pictures and had written us the sweetest letter. We jumped for joy! We loved all the pictures, but I picked out my favorite one and Chloe took my picture with it. Isn't it great??? Chloe and I think Carly is a great artist!

I better go. It is already early evening and it will be bedtime before I turn around!

Lots to Catch Up!

Hey WoodyWatchers! Hope you are having a great Wednesday. We have been gone so much lately that it has been tough to find the time to give you an update! Last Thursday, we spent the day and evening at Millcreek Elementary in Lexington, KY. What a super place to kick off our 2006-07 school tour! Everyone was so friendly. The second photo is of Mommy and me with Ms. Williams - the principal. Ms. Williams just laughed when we asked if they could change their mascot from the Millcreek Lions to the Millcreek WIENER DOGS! Speaking of lions, during one of our fourth grade classroom visits, the teacher had the neatest stuffed animal lion in the class. I had to get my paws - and my mouth on it. All the students laughed and giggled, though Mom and Dad didn't think it was nearly that funny! I stopped before I wound up in the doghouse!

The first photo is of the three of us with Ms. George Ella Lyons (a very famous Kentucky author) and Ms. Connie Crowe from the Kentucky Book Fair. This past week we taped an interview that will air before the Kentucky Book Fair in November. Once we have the deTAILS, we will let you know.

Yesterday, we spent the morning at the Meade County Public Library and the afternoon at Muldraugh Elementary. It was too fun. The only bad part was that my batteries on my camera went dead. Therefore, I couldn't take any pictures. I did try to use my crayons and sketch a few pictures out from the things I saw, but I quickly realized I wasn't near the artist that our illustrator James Asher is.

I better say "Arff" for now. It is getting close to supper time. I love helping Mom set the table for dinner. It just means we are getting ready to fill my tummy!

Chloe says to tell everyone "ARFF!"

We can't wait to meet all the students and staff! I hope I sleep tonight. I have a feeling I will be so excited that I will have to count sheep to doze off! Anyway, I better go. Where does the time go?

Hey Friends! It's me, Woody, your long lost friend. Sorry I haven't written in a while. Sometimes our days get so busy that it is tough to get to the computer. Other days, Chloe and I get to the computer, but we spend our time playing with that mouse and never get to writing in our diary!

Our days have been busy, but as usual, very entertaining. This past Saturday, Chloe, Mom, Dad, and I spent time in Lebanon, KY. The Hope Community Church invited us to the Spring View Nursing Home. It is always exciting to be with people of all different ages. We heard neat stories from long ago and made a whole new group of friends. We wanted to share a few photos with you. Chloe and I made a promise to visit the nursing homes more often. The residents always love having company, and Chloe and I always love being rubbed!

I better go. It is getting late and Mom and Dad are ready to tuck Chloe and me into bed. I am so sleepy.

Well, not necessarily my family, but still a family!

Arff, Arff! Hi WoodyWatchers! Chloe and I hope you are having a terrific day! We are home today catching up on some much needed work, and rest too!

Saturday, the four of us were in Monticello, KY. That is in Wayne County and is located in the bottom part of our state - almost in Tennessee. It was exciting for us to visit Wayne County for the very first time. We met so many people - lots of whom had a wiener dog too! In fact, we met Odie's mom, and Oscar's mom, just to name a few! In fact, one big family came to see us. You can see them in the second photo. We told them if they wanted to use that photo for their Christmas card, they could. Chloe rolled her eyes when I said that, but I thought it was a super idea!

Everybody say "Cheese!"

Good Saturday morning, Woodywatchers! It is early for a Saturday, but Chloe and I are up and at it. In fact, we just ate our breakfast of bacon and are ready to do our chores. We always have chores to do - especially on Saturday. Mommy does the laundry, Daddy mows the yard, and Chloe and I pick up our toys and straighten our toy box. Mommy always makes me clean out under the bed too since I love to carry all my toys under Mommy and Daddy's bed. After our chores, it will be time to watch Lassie on T.V.

We had another great week! On Thursday, we were in McKee, KY - that is in Jackson County. We met so many new faces! It was exciting that lots of the kids and adults brought pictures of their own pups to show us. We always love that! Speaking of photos, I made a mistake by forgetting to pack my camera in my Scooby backpack before I left. We were so disappointed! I wanted to show photos of our trip, but no camera. So, if you have photos from Jackson County, please email them to me at woody@thewoodybooks.com. I am confident somebody has pictures because Chloe and I said "Cheese" over and over that day! We can't wait to see your photos! We will get them on the web.

I better say "Arff!" I have chores waiting for me! Enjoy your Saturday. Stay cool and remember to clean out your toys from under the bed! Oh, and don't forget to Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

A day with the Brady Bunch!

Good Sunday, WoodyWatchers! Chloe and I hope you are having beautiful weather wherever you are today. It is gorgeous here. In fact, we are getting ready to go outside and stretch our legs! Hopefully we will find some butterflies to chase or some dandelions to pick! After Sunday School, we had a nice lunch of fried chicken. DOGlicious! Then we watched several episodes of the Brady Bunch. They are having a marathon on TV Land. We love the Brady family. In the last episode Chloe and I watched, Bobby rescued a cat from a tree. Chloe and I were so scared for that kitty cat. Every time it meowed, we barked.

Yesterday, Mom, Dad, Chloe and I spent the day at Maddy's Bookstore in Danville, KY. We had a blast. We always have fun at Maddy's. Each time we go, we see so many of our friends, and meet lots of new ones. We had tons of people and even one monkey. It was a stuffed animal, but I was in love. The monkey was with Colby. I told Colby if the monkey ever needed a new home to give us a call. Mommy said maybe Santa could bring me one for Christmas. Everyone knows how much I love the monkey I already have. In fact, I included one of my favorite pictures of the two of us.

If Maddy's wasn't exciting enough, when we stopped in Bardstown for dinner, we ran into some friends from Northern Kentucky. They had seen us in their school a year or so ago. They came up to Mommy and said, "Hey, aren't you Woody and Chloe's mom?" It was fun to spend some time with them.

Well, I better go. I think I will catch another episode of the Brady Bunch before we head outside to pick dandelions. Have a super Sunday! Enjoy the weather, and don't forget to "Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!"
