Sailing with the Lakers

Hey WoodyWatchers! Hope this finds you in the middle of a great Saturday! Chloe and I are snuggled up on the couch, resting and remembering a fantastic week in Western Kentucky. As you know, we love the western part of our state - especially since that is where Mommy and I are from! In fact, Thursday we spent the day at North Elementary. North is where my Mommy went to elementary school. As you can imagine, it was a terrific day! Mom felt right at home. She saw so many of her friends. Dad, Chloe, and I loved meeting the people who are so special to Mom. The day was filled with lots of hugs, laughs, stories, and pictures. Everyone knows how much we love pictures. Dad has become not only the official bus driver and computer man, but the official photographer too. Usually at a school, Dad will take about 120 photos. Well, he took 230 photos from our day at North! That tells you how special the day was. (We will put many of the photos on the Picture page of our website at the end of February.)

One of the most exciting parts of the day was Doodles. Doodles is a book the students at North put together. The students write stories of all kinds - fiction and non-fiction. Their pieces are put together in a book called Doodles. Doodles was unveiled on Thursday evening. Chloe and I couldn't wait to get our paws on our own copy. In fact, we have been reading every page. Ms. McCafferty and Ms. Oliver did an outstanding job editing the book. It is top-dog, if I do say so myself!

We could bark all day about our visit to North! It is a day we will never forget! We certainly hope to see our North Laker friends again soon. In the meantime, Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Friends from BriarWOODY

Hey WoodyWatchers! It is Saturday afternoon and Chloe and I are watching our favorite team, the Kentucky Wildcats. Sadly, our Cats are getting beat. I was pouting a bit when Mommy reminded me that losing is a part of life. She is right, but I sure like winning better!

During a time-out, I decided to check my email. Two of our new friends from BriarWOODY sent us this photo. This picture was taken at the school on Thursday night. Say "Arff" to our friends Shelley and Landon! We met them for the first time on Thursday. They were lots of fun. We knew you would love this picture!

I better go. Chloe said we are only four points behind! I have to go cheer them to a victory!

Talk to you soon. In the meantime, Go CATS! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

BriarWOODY Elementary

Good Friday! I can't believe another week has come and gone! Where does the time go?

We had another great week on the road. Yesterday we were in Bowling Green, KY at Briarwood Elementary. We loved the school so much and they must have loved us too! We felt like rock stars! They had cool signs and posters for us all over the school! In fact, we wondered if the principal would change the name from Briarwood to BriarWOODY. I mean, all they would have to do would be add a Y at the end of their name! That wouldn't be so hard! In fact, Mom took a picture of me talking to the principal about the name change! Name change or not, it was a terrific day! We will be posting photos soon on our Photo page.

The weatherman is saying we may have up to four inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. Chloe and I are so excited! We love snow! We are already asking Mom if we can go sledding down our great big hill. I can't wait to wake up and look outside!

I better go. Chloe and I are going to play a game of checkers. I love checkers, even though my sister always wins! Have a great night! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

TAILS from Madison County

Hey WoodyWatchers! Happy Valentine's Day! Chloe and I hope you all are having a great day! We are home today after spending a few days in Madison County. Saturday we were in Berea. We love Berea. If you remember from TAILS 2, we spent an afternon in the Arts and Crafts Capital. In fact, Chloe tried to make a beautiful necklace from dog food and cereal. Well, there wasn't time for crafts in Berea during this visit. Our job was to speak at the AAUW Brunch. I didn't really understand what the AAUW stood for, but Mom explained the brunch was to help women go to college. Once we heard that, we were even more excited to be there! Mom, Dad, Chloe, and I were there with other authors, one of them being our good friend, Mr. Silas House. Mr. House is one of Mom's favorite Kentucky authors. Dad and Chloe snapped a photo of Mom and me with Mr. House. Chloe and I love playing with his daughters. They are lots of fun!

On Tuesday, we were in Madison County once again. This time we were in Richmond at Marshall Elementary. Marshall is a brand new school. It was gorgeous. Since it was brand new, I made double sure not to have any accidents of any kind! I was a good boy! Mom said she was proud! Anyway, we made lots of friends. Mrs. Scully, the librarian, was the nicest lady. She even let us hang out in her office during our breaks. Her son, John Patrick, became our good buddy!

We just didn't meet students and teachers, we met the nicest ladies from the lunch room. One lady said she loved reading our TAILS! I took a picture of her kissing Chloe!

I better run for now. Tomorrow we will be at Briarwood Elementary in Bowling Green. Dad is loading the Woody Bus right now. I am packing my sweater once again. It is so cold outside!

Have a great day! Stay warm, stay safe, and Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!

Hopkins County, Snow, and Ground Hog Day

Good Saturday Morning, WoodyWatchers! We hope everyone had an exciting week! Chloe and I had a terrific week. On Monday, we loaded the Woody Bus and headed to Madisonville, Kentucky. Madisonville is in Hopkins County and is in the western part of the state - my stomping ground!!! Most of the time, we travel in the Woody Bus that has our own bed, but this time we used our car. That meant we had to stay in a hotel. Chloe and I love staying in hotels. It is such a treat. The bed was so big! The best part was that every morning the phone would ring to wake us up. Isn't that the coolest thing???

Anyway, on Tuesday we spent the day at Jesse Stuart Elementary. It was a blast. The school was beautiful and the students and teachers were so friendly. They had spent time following our TAILS in the fall. They even made a cool sign for us!

Wednesday found us at the Dawson Springs Branch of the Hopkins County Public Library. We were there with Ms. Cindy, Ms. Mary, and our illustrator Mr. Asher. Ms. Cindy has the actual BookMobile that was in our TAILS 2. It was great to see the BookMobile again!

On Thursday, we were supposed to be at West Hopkins. Chloe and I woke up and looked at the clock and it was 7:30! I couldn't believe it. We had overslept! I asked Mom why the hotel didn't wake us up. She laughed and said I had slept right through the phone ringing. Then she told me we weren't going to school that day because it had snowed the night before. Chloe and I were so sad. We had been so excited about West Hopkins. Mom said not to worry. We would be going there again within the next few weeks!

Since we didn't have school, we loaded up and headed back home. On Friday we woke up to even more snow! We woke up early because I couldn't wait to tell Chloe "Happy Ground Hog Day!" It is one of our favorite holidays!

I better go. It is Saturday morning and that means the usual chores are waiting - cleaning out my toy box, straightening my bookshelf, you get the picture. After that, Mom and Dad said they are going to take us to the library to check out some books. We can't wait! We love the library!!!

Have a great day! Stay warm in this cold weather! Work and Dream like a BIG DOG!
